EUROPE'S FIRST HARMAN PRO GROUP HIQNET™ NETWORKED AUDIO SYSTEM IS INSTALLED AT STADE DE SUISSE STADIUM BY MARAZZI AG
LONDON, ENGLAND, 11 September 2005 - The leading Swiss engineering firm Marazzi AG has completed the audio system installation at the new 32,000- seat Stade de Suisse. The installation is the first European deployment of the Harman Pro Group's groundbreaking HiQnet™ audio networking and control protocol that was introduced earlier this year.
The stadium, which is located in Berne, Switzerland, features a 79,000-watt networked digital audio system designed by Fischerplan Electronic GmbH in Rodersdort, Switzerland. It is comprised of category-leading Harman brands that include JBL Professional loudspeakers, Crown amplifiers, BSS processing and a Soundcraft mixing board. All Crown and BSS components exist in a Harman HiQnet environment controlled by HiQnet London Architect software, which enables each component to be configured, monitored and managed more effectively than was ever before possible.
The f350 million Stade de Suisse was built on the grounds of the former Wankdorf soccer stadium that hosted the 1954 World Cup and embraces a multi- purpose concept. The stadium will host games of the 2008 UEFA European Soccer Championships and also festivals, concerts, bike and motocross races as well as conferences. Amenities of the FIFA and UEFA sanctioned Stade De Suisse include covered stands, an extensive array of catering services at over 20 locations, VIP and executive lounges, 20 boxes, clear stewarding and sign- posting arrangements for visitors and a state-of the-art entry system.
The HiQnet network backbone of the audio system is built around a BSS Soundweb London and Crown Cts2000 amplifiers, both components configured by and controlled with HiQnet London Architect. A Soundcraft K1 audio mixer feeds the front-end system and JBL Professional AE Series and Control Contractor Series provide the loudspeaker reinforcement. Additionally, JBL LSR6325P studio monitors are used in the Director's control centre. The complete processing and distribution of the signal is fully digital and redundant.
"The Stade de Suisse is a fitting showcase of the versatility and functionality of the Harman HiQnet audio networking and control protocol," said Mark Terry, President, Harman Pro Group. "Having invested such time and resources to develop this one-of-a-kind solution, it is gratifying and encouraging to announce the first European deployment so soon after launching the protocol. We applaud Marazzi AG and Fischerplan Electronic for this great-sounding system design and commissioning and look forward to working with them in future HiQnet installations."
The aggregate benefits and the extensive features of the Harman HiQnet protocol make it the most compelling new product introduction in the history of the Harman Pro Group, ensuring real multi-brand benefits in a single design/control application. The Stade de Suisse installation benefits specifically from HiQnet London Architect's unified layout of BSS and Crown product configuration on screen, simple preset configuration of the entire BSS/Crown HiQnet network, common configuration of networked audio-routing across all components, system-wide custom control panels and unified monitoring, event logging and error reporting for the entire system.
Harman HiQnet enables users to maximize system configuration and control of products for the entire family of Harman brands. Compatible with UPnP™ (Universal Plug and Play) standard, HiQnet allows users to quickly and efficiently connect a network of HiQnet-compatible components. In addition, HiQnet can be controlled from a Studer Vista 8 and future HiQnet-compatible consoles.
