ASIA'S FIRST HARMAN PRO GROUP HIQNET™ AUDIO INSTALLATION DEBUTS IN HONG KONG STADIUM

LONDON, ENGLAND, 11 September 2005 - The Harman Pro Group announced today that Hong Kong Stadium has become Asia's first HiQnet™ networked audio system installation, according to Mark Terry, President of Harman Pro Group. The multi-brand HiQnet installation, part of a massive renovation of the 40,000-seat facility, provides Hong Kong Stadium a sophisticated sound system with unparalleled control functions necessary for the premiere sports and entertainment venue.

Situated in a valley within the central city, Hong Kong Stadium is surrounded by residential areas on the rising hillsides and has hosted major international events, such as the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens World Cup and international soccer matches. Completely open on one side, the stadium had difficulties with sound containment, leading to the need for distributed loudspeaker arrays with very narrow and precision pattern control. For this purpose, Hong Kong-based Advanced Communications Equipment (ACE) designed and implemented a solution based on the Harman family of brands networked with HiQnet to properly match the sound with the seating plane. ACE installed custom-weatherised JBL VERTEC® line array speakers and utilized BSS Soundweb London to fine tune the audio system for each area of the stadium with a laptop connected via wireless Ethernet. The result is an audio system with superb sound containment optimized for every seat in the stadium.

BSS Soundweb London and Crown CTs3000 and CTs2000 amplifier provide the foundation for the audio system's HiQnet network, controlled and configured with HiQnet London Architect. A Soundcraft K3 and Soundcraft FX-16 provide the front-end audio mixing, which is supplied to a collection of JBL Professional loudspeakers including JBL VERTEC 4888s, JBL Precision Directivity™ Series and JBL Control Contractor® Series.

Hosting a wide variety of events, from international soccer matches to live concerts, control and configuration were central to the stadium's audio system needs. Utilizing HiQnet technologies, the stadium is now purposefully suited to accommodate any application necessary.

The Hong Kong Stadium is among one of the first HiQnet installation worldwide and coincides with recent announcements of installations at Stade de Suisse in Switzerland and the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk in California.

HiQnet is an intelligent networking system that is flexible enough to handle any transport technology from USB to Ethernet. HiQnet's compliance with the UpnP™ (Universal Plug and Play) standard enables HiQnet devices to automatically negotiate HiQnet network addresses between themselves and device IP address assignment when on an Ethernet network.
