HARMAN HiQnet™ MAKES ITS WORLD TOURING DEBUT ON COUNTRY MUSIC STAR TOBY KEITH'S BIG THROWDOWN II TOUR
HiQnet offers the highest levels of system integration and pre-programmability in a touring environment.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, March 16, 2006 -
Proving Harman HiQnet's adaptability and multi-application capability, the Harman Pro Group today announced HiQnet's first touring application on the blockbuster tour, Toby Keith's Big Throwdown II Tour.
Tour sound company Sound Image, based in Escondido, CA, is again this year providing sound for Keith's tour. According to Dave Shadoan, President of Sound Image, "HiQnet technology enables the highest levels of integration and control by systemizing much of the hard work associated with running a successful tour such as this." Shadoan went on to say, "What is essential is that the protocol is 100% reliable and almost completely transparent, which saves us time, money and much anxiety." Sound Image's expert staff on this tour includes system engineer Russell Fisher, front of house engineer Dirk Durham and monitor engineer Earl Neal.
The massive tour features 72 JBL VERTEC VT4889 boxes, and 40 VT4880 line array subwoofers. Configured by HiQnet System Architect™ software, the entire system is powered by Crown I-Tech 8000 amplifiers with front-of-house equalization being provided by six dbx DriveRack 4800s, controlled by System Architect running on a wireless tablet PC.
Kicking off in Portland in January, Keith's tour will run across North America through November. Meanwhile, Keith is preparing for the April 11 release of his next album, White Trash With Money, the first on his own Show Dog Nashville label. The first single off the new album "Get Drunk And Be Somebody" has shot up into the top 10.
Harman System Development and Integration Group Vice President, Rick Kreifeldt, is encouraged to see HiQnet's expanding use, "This touring application of HiQnet underscores the versatility and robust nature of the platform and demonstrates the efficiencies and performance enhancements that come from having all nodes of the signal chain operating in the same language."
